tanxと1/tan xの微分公式のいろいろな証明

タンジェントの微分

y=tanxy=\tan x の導関数は,y=1cos2xy'=\dfrac{1}{\cos^2 x}

証明1:商の微分公式を使う

(sinx)=cosx(\sin x)'=\cos x(cosx)=sinx(\cos x)'=-\sin x ,および商の微分公式を使えば簡単に導出できます。多くの教科書で採用されている方法です。

証明

(tanx)=(sinxcosx)=(sinx)cosx(cosx)sinxcos2x=cos2x+sin2xcos2x=1cos2x(\tan x)'\\ =\left(\dfrac{\sin x}{\cos x}\right)'\\ =\dfrac{(\sin x)'\cos x-(\cos x)'\sin x}{\cos^2 x}\\ =\dfrac{\cos^2x+\sin^2x}{\cos^2 x}\\ =\dfrac{1}{\cos^2x}

証明2:定義に従って計算する

教科書や参考書ではあまり採用されていませんが,こちらも自然な方法です。加法定理や極限計算の練習になるのでけっこうおすすめです。

証明

(tanx)=limh0tan(x+h)tanxh(\tan x)'\\ =\displaystyle\lim_{h\to 0}\dfrac{\tan(x+h)-\tan x}{h}

ここで加法定理を使うと上式は,

limh01h(tanx+tanh1tanxtanhtanx)\displaystyle\lim_{h\to 0}\dfrac{1}{h}\left(\dfrac{\tan x+\tan h}{1-\tan x\tan h}-\tan x\right)

となる。さらに通分して変形していく:

limh01h(tanh+tan2xtanh1tanxtanh)=limh0tanhh1+tan2x1tanxtanh=limh0sinhh1cosh11tanxtanh1cos2x=111101cos2x=1cos2x\displaystyle\lim_{h\to 0}\dfrac{1}{h}\left(\dfrac{\tan h+\tan^2 x\tan h}{1-\tan x\tan h}\right)\\ =\displaystyle\lim_{h\to 0}\dfrac{\tan h}{h}\cdot\dfrac{1+\tan^2 x}{1-\tan x\tan h}\\ =\displaystyle\lim_{h\to 0}\dfrac{\sin h}{h}\cdot\dfrac{1}{\cos h}\cdot\dfrac{1}{1-\tan x\tan h}\cdot\dfrac{1}{\cos^2 x}\\ =1\cdot 1\cdot \dfrac{1}{1-0}\cdot \dfrac{1}{\cos^2 x}\\ =\dfrac{1}{\cos^2x}

1/tan xの微分

次は 1tanx\dfrac{1}{\tan x}cotx\cot x と書くこともあります)の微分公式です。 tanx\tan x ほどではありませんがこちらも頻出なので丸暗記してもよいと思います。

1tanx\dfrac{1}{\tan x} の微分は1sin2x-\dfrac{1}{\sin^2 x}

マイナスがついていることに注意して下さい。

証明1:tan xでできれば1/tan xでもできる

tanx=sinxcosx\tan x=\dfrac{\sin x}{\cos x}1tanx=cosxsinx\dfrac{1}{\tan x}=\dfrac{\cos x}{\sin x} は形が似ているので,tanx\tan x に通用する方法は 1tanx\dfrac{1}{\tan x} にも通用するだろう,と考えたいところです。

実際,上で紹介した tanx\tan x の二通りの証明方法について,どちらも 1tanx\dfrac{1}{\tan x} の微分の導出にも使えます。証明1(商の微分公式を使う方法)のみ書いておきます。

証明

(1tanx)=(cosxsinx)=(cosx)sinx(sinx)cosxsin2x=sin2xcos2xsin2x=1sin2x\left(\dfrac{1}{\tan x}\right)'\\ =\left(\dfrac{\cos x}{\sin x}\right)'\\ =\dfrac{(\cos x)'\sin x-(\sin x)'\cos x}{\sin^2 x}\\ =\dfrac{-\sin^2x-\cos^2x}{\sin^2 x}\\ =-\dfrac{1}{\sin^2x}

証明2:逆数の微分公式を使う

f(x)f(x) が微分できれば 1f(x)\dfrac{1}{f(x)} も微分できる」という発想です。多くの教科書で採用されている方法です。

証明

逆数の微分公式: (1f(x))=f(x)f(x)2\left(\dfrac{1}{f(x)}\right)'=-\dfrac{f'(x)}{f(x)^2} より,

(1tanx)=(tanx)tan2x=1tan2xcos2x=1sin2x\left(\dfrac{1}{\tan x}\right)'\\ =-\dfrac{(\tan x)'}{\tan^2x}\\ =-\dfrac{1}{\tan^2 x\cos^2 x}\\ =-\dfrac{1}{\sin^2 x}

証明3:平行移動でtanに

おまけです。

証明

1tanx=cosxsinx=sin(x+π2)cos(x+π2)=tan(x+π2)\dfrac{1}{\tan x}\\ =\dfrac{\cos x}{\sin x}\\ =\dfrac{\sin (x+\frac{\pi}{2})}{-\cos(x+\frac{\pi}{2})}\\ =-\tan (x+\frac{\pi}{2})

より,

(1tanx)=1cos2(x+π2)=1sin2x\left(\dfrac{1}{\tan x}\right)'\\ =-\dfrac{1}{\cos^2(x+\frac{\pi}{2})}\\ =-\dfrac{1}{\sin^2x}

じっくり考えてみるといろいろな方法があるもんですね。
